CBFO InformationMission Statement The purpose of CBFO Volleyball is to promote the interest in the growth and interest in girls and boys volleyball in Knoxville, Tennessee. CBFO supports a fun and positive atmosphere where equal play, building individual and team skills, positive reinforcement and sportsmanship are encouraged and we strive to instill honesty, loyalty, integrity, teamwork, discipline, respect, leadership, trust and commitment in our participants. We will strive to instill in our youth the challenge of competition, the joy of victory, the reality of defeat, the importance of commitment and the spirit of community. These goals will be achieved through organizing our dedicated volunteers, caring parents and business associates who wish to partner with our great youth sport program. Objectives
Coaches Ethics & Responsibilities The coach must be aware that he or she may be either a positive or negative influence on the development of the athlete and the atmosphere of the game. In all of the coach’s contacts with players, officials, parents and the public, the coach must strive to set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct. Coaches must treat officials with respect; play all players; take control of his or her fans when they become unruly; and always demonstrate a positive attitude. Remember that players and fans are always watching and will emulate the coach’s actions.
Make a commitment to your child’s coach and team. CBFO Volleyball does not discourage players from participating in other activities. However, if the child wants to be a true team member, both parents and child should make the effort to be at all practices and games. Support your child and team with positive cheers and praise. Never shout derogatory comments at referees, coaches, player or other spectators. Never criticize or second guess coaches or officials during games. Support your coaches and officials, remember that most of them are volunteers and the league has a difficult time finding people willing to take on these positions and the commitment involved in their positions. You are welcome to volunteer for one of these positions if you are not satisfied with the performance of others. Understand that our program is not specifically designed for individual training, but to teach teamwork, sportsmanship and to enhance all players’ skills. If you have a problem with your coach, try to resolve it privately rather than through a public confrontation. If you are unsatisfied with the outcome of your discussion, contact the commissioner with your concerns. Never approach an official or coach with negative comments immediately following a game. This will only cause a confrontation. If you have a formal complaint, document it in writing and bring it to your coach and/or the commissioner at a later time. Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, profanity, threats or physical violence will not be tolerated at practices, games or at any facility in which the games and/or practices are being held. RegistrationCurrently, CBFO Volleyball has two seasons, Fall and Spring. Usually with sufficient facility use, there will be 5 game days and a 3 day double elimination tournament. Practice is one night per week. Practice night, time and gym are based on the team and coach you are drafted to. Younger girls/boys will practice 6:00-7:30 and middle and high school will practice 7:30-9:00. Current fees are $100.00 per season and will include the player numbered shirt and end of season awards based on tournament results. There is a limited amount of space for players and often there is a waiting list if you do not register early. Please note the program often fills before the deadline of registration. The program currently offers 3rd grade through high school girls program and a middle school boys program. Due to the number of participants, we cannot accommodate special request for carpooling, friend request, or coach requests. Absolutely NO CHANGES from team to team after draft is complete without prior approval from the commissioner. Back To Top
